Award Winning Pulse Warehouse Managment System Now On IBM i-Series - AS/400 Platform

"Organisations can now substantially improve customer satisfaction at the same time that they are significantly reducing logistics costs"

The PULSE.WMS specifically introduces a wide range of the latest information technology tools which, among other things, enable PULSE to be effectively installed on the AS/400 platform and to exploit the benefits of the native DB2/400 database.

Such a capability is seen by company CEO Kerry Hutchings as a "most significant strategic move for the product': which he expects will deliver much expanded opportunities for the already successful application.

To date, PULSE is installed in user sites in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Africa and Australia.

As Mr Hutchings notes, "in nuts and bolts terms, the PULSE WMS is designed around a powerful integration of computer software, hardware, barcoding and data transmission via radio frequency technologies.

These are combined to service all relevant aspects of the warehouse cycle, from product receipt, workflow management, putaway and replenishment, through to order management, product picking and order consolidation and on to despatch, freight management and stocktake.

"Traditionally, the warehouse has been very much the black hole of business efficiency. However, to paraphrase the Gartner Group's conclusions, 'during the past 10 years, logistics management has moved from the basement of the corporation to the boardroom."

Mr Hutchings goes on to note how documented user experience shows that an effective WMS can deliver a wide range of very real benefits at the same time as vastly enhancing customer service levels. These benefits include:

- Direct labour cost reductions of up to 40%
- Inventory accuracy of 99.98%
- Warehouse space utilisation increases of 10-30%
- Inventory reductions of 30% plus
- Picking time improvements of 50% Warehouse productivity gains of 30-60%

"in other words, organisations can now substantially improve customer satisfaction at the same time that they are significantly reducing logistics costs. These two key objectives are no longer mutually exclusive': Mr Hutchings adds.

Extensively used by companies operating warehouses for wholesale or retail distribution, PULSE is also ideally suited to manufacturing companies operating their own warehouses for holding raw materials and components as well as finished goods. A significant PULSE user base also exists in the fast growing arena of contract third party logistics operators.

With the i-Series platform customers can leverage on their existing infrastructure and familiarity while experience the benefits of a true Warehouse Management System not a bolt on solution.
